UPDATE (Jan 2, 2019): Thanks to the generosity of our community, NumFOCUS successfully raised over $10,000 to support open source scientific computing! We sincerely thank our corporate sponsor, Quansight, for their matching challenge, and we thank every one of you who donated to NumFOCUS in 2018.

The annual end-of-year NumFOCUS fundraising drive is here, and we need your help to meet our goal!

Quansight, one of our corporate sponsors, has generously put up $5,000 in matching funds as an incentive to the community to donate.

For every dollar donated to NumFOCUS before January 1, 2019, Quansight will match it dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000!

How does NumFOCUS use your donation?

Thanks in large part to donations from last year’s end-of-year fundraising campaign, in 2018 NumFOCUS was able to award $60,000 in small development grants to the projects! This represents a significant expansion from the launch of the program in 2016, when we gave out $13,000 in grants.

This year, projects used these funds in a variety of ways to improve usability and grow the community, including:

In 2019 we want to do even more — our goal is to distribute $100,000 in Small Development Grants to our sponsored and affiliated projects — and we need the community’s help to get there!

Our goal is to raise $20,000 between now and January 1, 2019.
