Features
Generic framework with pluggable, language agnostic tools, widely adopted for large scale computing in data rich fields ranging from molecular biology to climate science.
Galaxy is a mature global collaboration providing software, training and analysis services. It was designed so scientists can manage, analyse and share their own data, with minimal technical friction. The framework has proven suitable for complicated computing at scale in a wide range of scientific disciplines, such as molecular biology, public health, climate science and image processing.
Galaxy has been adopted for accessible computing in a wide range of data rich sciences, including global Covid genomics, assembly for the Vertebrate Genome Project, machine learning, ecology, public health, imaging and proteomics. It is a generic framework, able to run on a laptop, and also providing free services at scale on national research computing infrastructure. Any Linux command line package can be turned into an integrated tool, so it is easy to configure specialised servers for almost any kind of complicated analyses – e.g. https://climate.usegalaxy.eu
