NumFOCUS Project Forum 2018

NumFOCUS Project Forum

for Core Developers and Critical Users

September 24-25, 2018

Microsoft Conference Center, New York City

A unique opportunity for critical users of NumFOCUS open source projects to directly interact with the core developers.

Are NumFOCUS projects critical tools for your business or research? Don’t miss the Project Forum for Core Developers and Critical Users, Sept 24-25 in NYC.

The Forum is intended to facilitate conversations between critical users of NumFOCUS projects and the leaders of those projects. Participants in the Project Forum have the opportunity to determine topics for discussion with NumFOCUS project leaders.

The Project Forum is a new addition to the annual NumFOCUS Summit, a gathering of NumFOCUS project leaders and community stakeholders to collectively tackle the challenges of long-term project sustainability. The Project Forum takes place immediately following a two-day intensive workshop for project leaders. The roadmaps and goals generated at the Sustainability Workshop will inform the conversations at the Forum.

The Project Forum is an opportunity:

  • to connect to the core developers and technical leaders behind projects critical to your organization and to your work.

  • to understand and help guide projects in their long-term planning around growing and promoting the use of their tools in research and industry.

  • to communicate your needs directly to project leadership and to identify opportunities for collaboration that can help promote the use of our projects in your field.

The products that NumFOCUS supports are critical to our lines of business. Being able to invest in these products as a portfolio is a unique value proposition for us. With a single donation, we can support data science tools we depend on, contribute to diversity and inclusion in scientific computing, and strengthen our relationship with a passionate community of open source advocates.”

— David Palaitis, Senior Vice President, Engineering, Two Sigma

At IMC, traders, quants and developers rely on NumFOCUS sponsored projects every day. […] Sponsoring NumFOCUS is an opportunity for us to show our gratitude, invest in business-critical tools and give back to an organization that we truly admire.”

–Andy Adams, Partner and Head of Technology at IMC

At Optiver we use NumFOCUS sponsored open source projects every day. From traders to researchers and engineers, we make data-driven decisions our top priority. The open and collaborative nature of these projects has changed the face of data-science in only a few years. Because of this, we’re excited to have the opportunity to ensure that the quality OSS that we love is supported into the future for everyone, and we’re proud to sponsor NumFOCUS.”

—Sam Gibson, IT Team Lead, Optiver
