The purpose of NumFOCUS is to promote the use of accessible and reproducible computing in science and technology.

This is accomplished through:

• Educational Programs
• The promotion of high-level languages, reproducible scientific research, and open-code development
• An increase in collaborative research tools and documentation

NumFOCUS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in the United States. Your tax deductible donations go towards funding the following activities:

• Sponsor sprints and conferences
• Provide scholarships and grants
• Provide hardware grants for student developers
• Pay for the creation of publicly-available documentation and basic course development
• Work with domain-specific organizations
• Raise funds from industries using Python and NumPy

Call for Speakers

The call for speakers for PyData Boston (July 27-28th) is now open. If you are interested in presenting a talk on how you use Python for data management, analytics, or visualization or leading a tutorial session, please email a short description of your idea, including whether it is a beginner or advanced presentation, to boston_proposals@pydata.org. The initial call-for-speakers for PyData Boston will be open through May 31st.

SciPy 2013

SciPy 2013, the twelfth annual Scientific Computing with Python conference, will be held June 24th - 29th in Austin, Texas.  The main conference themes are Machine Learning & Reproducible Science.
